For a whole variety of reasons, university or college may not the best route for everyone. At GWA, we recognise that. We offer many opportunities to join our team - be that as part of our support staff, as an apprentice on our Fast track AAT/ATT-Chartered Accountant training programme or with our Wealth Management team.

Some of our longest-serving, most dedicated colleagues joined us straight out of school and are now Head of Departments.  No matter what stage of your career you join GWA, you will gain on-the-job experience, professional training and be given the chance to develop and progress.

We regularly look for talented individuals to join our Apprenticeship and Fast track AAT/ATT-Chartered Accountant training programme.

We also regularly look for talented individuals to work towards Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) qualifications with our Wealth Management team.  Both of these options allow you to gain a recognised qualification and hands-on experience, all while earning a salary.

If you are considering what your options are when you leave school, why not get in touch and give us a call for an informal chat.

AAT Level 4 is equivalent to a Higher Diploma or first year of a degree. The programme will allow you to gain experience across our specialist service lines including commercial and corporate financial accounting, tax and VAT consultancy, audit and assurance, company secretarial and payroll. Those with the highest level of academic ability also have the possibility of becoming a Chartered Accountant on our Fast track AAT-ACA/CA apprenticeship programme.

The CII level 4 Certificate in Paraplanning offers a qualification through developing paraplanning skills, expertise and advanced technical knowledge in several key advisory areas.

GWA holds the ‘Authorised Training Employer’ accreditation of the ICAEW and is an Authorised Training Office of the ICAS, both of which demonstrate our commitment to supporting trainees.  We are dedicated to helping students become successful professionals and are proud to be able to offer excellent technical training and work experience and also to pass on our professional values of Quality Advice Quality Service to every student we welcome to the GWA team.

Your training will include spending time in classes at college (usually Newcastle or Edinburgh), completing the exam modules and working within our contemporary, high-tech offices. Throughout you will receive support and mentoring and will be provided with all the practical tools necessary for a career in accountancy.

Your salary is competitive and increases with each year of study you complete and when you become part qualified. We also cover the costs of your study package, first sitting of each exam and travel expenses.

If you are a friendly, confident, approachable and are prepared to work hard we would love to hear from you. To learn more please get in touch for a chat or alternatively forward your CV and a covering letter to:
