Partner promotion for Billy Cleland

We are delighted to announce that one of our Associates, William Cleland (Billy), has been promoted to Partner from 1 October 2024.

Billy joined GWA in August 2023 working within the Tax department. With over 25 years of experience in tax, he is a Member of both the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT) and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP)

Billy gained his degree in Accountancy and Finance at the University of Strathclyde, before working with PwC in Leeds and Newcastle, followed by Johnston Carmichael in Elgin and Edinburgh.

Outside of the workplace, Billy is a keen golfer, and is a member at Royal Dornoch Golf Club in the Scottish Highlands.  He also enjoys mountain biking, particularly around Kielder Water.

Commenting on his appointment Billy said, “I have been welcomed so warmly by all at GWA. It is a joy and pleasure to work with such a talented team.  I am honoured to have been invited to join the Partnership so soon after joining the business last year.  The firm prides itself, quite rightly, on its excellent reputation for its level of service and commitment to developing its staff, and I look forward to contributing to the firm’s continued success for many years to come.”

Colin Frame, Partner of GWA said, “Throughout his career Billy has gained a wide variety of tax experience, both in transactional tax and routine compliance. During his time at GWA, he has been working closely with a number of Partners supporting them with larger clients with more complex requirements. He has demonstrated he possesses a clear technical knowledge as well as a work ethic to deliver the “Quality Advice – Quality Service” that we all strive for within the practice. All of the Partners are delighted to have Billy join us to take the firm forward”.
