Autumn 2019 Staff News

Appointments
We are delighted to welcome three new faces to our Accounts team in Berwick, Rowena Kerr, Kirsty Markwell and Sarah Weatherburn joined us in October and November. We also welcome back Laura Fowle to our Wealth Management team from maternity leave following the birth of baby son Mackenzie.

Weddings
We have a trio of weddings to celebrate, one being a marriage of two GWA employees. Laura Reavley from our Farm Accounts team married Andrew Riddell in June. Sarah Strathdee, also from our Farm Accounts team, married Neil Elliot in August. Our third marriage saw Natalie Weir from our Tax team and Michael Beveridge who is in our Payroll team tie the knot in September. We wish all three couples all the very best for their future together.

Births
Finally, our congratulations go to Danielle Campbell in our Corporate Services team and her husband Ed on the birth of their daughter Evelyn Grace, who in spite of surprising her parents with an early arrival is doing well.

The Budget sets out tax, welfare, and public‑service plans that will shape Scotland’s political debate over the coming months.

Market Commentary: 6 January 2026

We enter 2026 with US stocks dominating the global market while trading on expensive valuations. A small number of tech stocks account for a large portion of US returns and they are increasingly tied to the fortunes of the AI industry. These are certainly risks to be aware of.

Market Commentary – 5 December 2025

Stocks had a small dip in November, before recovering back towards their previous highs. The longest US government shutdown in history had a negative effect, before coming to an abrupt end and allowing stocks to rally.
