Trainee Financial Adviser (IFA)

We are looking to recruit a Trainee Financial Adviser to work at our office in Berwick upon Tweed.

As part of our continued growth, we are seeking a Trainee Financial Adviser to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to begin or advance their career in financial planning within a supportive and professional environment.
The Role
- Support the delivery of independent financial advice across areas such as investments, pensions, estate planning, and protection (note: this role does not involve mortgage advice).
- Assist experienced advisers and paraplanners with client casework, research, and documentation.
- Learn and apply FCA regulations and internal compliance standards.
- Participate in client meetings and contribute to relationship-building efforts.
- Undertake structured training and development, including study toward professional qualifications.
- Stay informed on industry developments and regulatory changes.
The Candidate
- A-levels, Scottish Highers, or equivalent Level 3/SCQF Level 6 qualification.
- GCSE/National 5 (or equivalent) in English and Math’s at Grade C/4 or above as a minimum requirement.
- Strong numeracy, communication, and analytical skills.
- Proactive, organised, and able to work to deadlines.
- Working toward or interested in pursuing the Level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning.
- Some experience in financial services, administration, or paraplanning (desirable but not essential).
- Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Detail-oriented with good analytical and organisational abilities.
- A team player with a proactive attitude.
- Familiarity with financial planning tools (e.g., Voyant) and CRM systems (e.g., Xplan) is a plus.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to assess cases critically and provide clear, reasoned input.
