The Role:

As an Associate/ Senior Chartered Accountant of the firm, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing a portfolio of clients with responsibilities stretching across service lines such as accounts, tax, and general business advisory. You will be responsible for assisting and nurturing the next generation of trainee and newly qualified chartered accountants and we will value your assistance in delivering strategic insights that contribute to the firm’s growth and success.

We envisage that the successful candidate will become an integral part of our firm, playing a key role in managing the operational and strategic direction of the team whilst ideally possessing an ambition and desire to progress to the level of Partner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Management: Manage a portfolio of tax and/or accounts clients (depending on your skills and career ambitions), including small to medium-sized businesses, corporations, and high-net-worth individuals.
  • Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation and review of statutory accounts, management reports, and financial statements in compliance with applicable standards (e.g., FRS102 and FRS105).
  • Taxation: Assist partners in advising clients on tax planning strategies, prepare and review tax returns, and ensure timely submission to tax authorities (depending on your skills and career ambitions).
  • Business Advisory: Provide strategic advice to clients on financial management, growth strategies, risk management, financial forecasting, and business planning.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and train newly qualified chartered accountants, supporting their professional development and performance.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency within the firm.

Key Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Must be a fully qualified Chartered Accountant (CA, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent).
  • Experience: Minimum of 3+ years of post-qualification experience in a similar role, ideally within an accountancy practice or professional services firm.
  • Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, tax law. If you have previously specialised in a specific service line (tax or accounts for example) we would encourage you to still apply.
  • Client-Focused: Proven record in managing client relationships, providing financial consultancy, and meeting client expectations.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership, team management, and mentoring skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex financial information clearly to clients and colleagues.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills, with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • IT Skills: Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Xero, Sage, QuickBooks) and MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.
