Letter from HMRC re VAT Direct Debit

You may have recently received a letter from HMRC stating that they are planning to cancel your VAT Direct Debit as they are moving your VAT record to a new IT system.

If you have already already signed up for Making Tax Digital (MTD) you need not take further action. However, if you have not yet signed up for MTD, you do need to follow the advice in the letter and set up a new direct debit.

To set up a new direct debit you must use your Government Gateway account. If you do not have a Government Gateway account you can do so by visiting the HMRC login page. It is a fairly simple process, but if you need any assistance or you would like us to walk you through it then please get in touch.

You will need to follow the four step process detailed in the letter and we would encourage you to do this as soon as possible after receiving the letter.

Whilst GWA cannot complete this process on your behalf, our friendly team of experts are here to help if you need advice. Please do not hesitate to contact us via email at vat@gwayre.co.uk or by phone should you have any queries or concerns regarding this information.
