Alan Patterson

Alan is one of our longest serving partners and is a member of the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners (STEP). Alan’s experience as a general accountancy practitioner is invaluable to the firm and his breadth of knowledge covers many areas including accounting, auditing, personal tax, trusts and estates and property ownership. Alan acts as a trustee for many family’s holding land, property and significant investment assets. He is involved in all aspects of tax mitigation including inheritance tax planning and business structures. In terms of business sectors , some of Alan`s most notable clients are involved in agriculture , property ownership , construction , retail and high net worth cases.
In his free time Alan enjoys a wide range of sports.

Andrew Ayre
Date Qualified: 1983
Joined GWA: 1978
Andrew is a member of the ICAEW as well as being the former Chair of tax and technical committee for the Farm and Rural Business Group. Farming and agricultural clients make up a large proportion of Andrew’s client portfolio. Andrew’s experience in family trusts, business valuations and inheritance tax planning are a real asset to the practice.
Away from accountancy, Andrew has a number of interests and hobbies which include sailing, cycling, walking, playing tennis and helping local causes.
Ewan Millar

Joined NC Campbell & Co CA: 1984
Ewan trained with a medium sized firm in Dundee and after qualifying had a spell in the tax department of one of the “Big 4”. He was appointed a partner of N C Campbell & Co in 1986. Like all of Greaves West & Ayre’s partners Ewan deals with a wide variety of clients, but coming from a strong agricultural background he takes a special interest in advising farming businesses and agricultural estates.

John Coats

John is renowned for being able to explain complex business and tax issues to his clients in clear and easy to understand terms. He has a varied client portfolio which includes high net worth individuals, landed estates, farms and a number of professional firms including land agents and dentists. Qualified as a Chartered Accountant and an Independent Financial Advisor, John often provides strategic planning to clients integrating their investment, business and taxation objectives in an efficient manner.
Outside of work, John’s hobbies are shooting, sailing and walking.

Robbie Dalgleish

Robbie is a Fellow of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales , and a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. He has many clients in various industries, including farming, retailing, leisure, and other professional firms, and is currently head of the firm’s Corporate Services department. Robbie is experienced in advising on a wide scope of taxation, accounting, and auditing issues.
In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, and walking his dog.

Stuart Allister

As with all our partners, Stuart is a general practitioner with a varied workload. He has a wealth of expertise in corporate acquisitions, disposals and buyouts as well as dispute resolution. Stuart enjoys working with owner-managed businesses on issues such as capital tax and succession planning. He has a number of clients in the manufacturing and renewables sectors.
Agricultural clients and landed estates also form a major part of Stuart’s client portfolio. He acts in an advisory capacity as well as being a trustee involved in the management of estates and their financial affairs.
Stuart enjoys spending his weekends with his family and when he has any spare time left over enjoys sailing, skiing and shooting.

Colin Frame
Date Qualified: 1993
Joined GWA: 1990
Colin has spent much of his career in Corporate Services and has clients across many different industries including Manufacturing, Construction, Professional Services, Charity and Retail. Being a farmer’s son he also enjoys working with his agricultural clients who value his knowledge and expertise in their sector.
Colin was elected Greaves West & Ayre’s Managing Partner in June 2014. This means that as well as looking after his portfolio of clients, he is heavily involved in the day to day running of the practice. He finds this role both rewarding and challenging and takes great delight in the success of GWA’s employees and partners who work so hard each day to deliver the “Quality Advice – Quality Service” that the firm aspires to maintain in a fast moving business environment.
Outside of work, Colin is a big rugby fan and played for his local club as well as being a past president. He also enjoys reading and films.

Douglas Gould

Douglas trained with a firm in Edinburgh qualifying before going on to work in the audit department of one of the “Big 4”. He joined N C Campbell & Co in 1991 and was appointed a Partner in 2002. As well as dealing with a broad range of clients, Douglas specialises in acting for churches, charities, clubs and associations.

Stuart Faed

As well as being a member of ICAS, Stuart has a Diploma in Financial Planning (Dip. PFS). Stuart’s main focus is investment business, wearing both an advisor and compliance hat, although he also has experience in internal and external audit work. As well as providing tax efficient wealth planning advice to private clients, his work includes local businesses as well as local and national charities.
In the summer months Stuart is a keen gardener and come winter time he enjoys shooting. Stuart can also be found starring in performances at the local theatre and panto productions and is a member of two local choirs.

Craig Little

A member of the Chartered Accountants of Scotland with a degree in accountancy, Craig has expertise in a variety of fields, including tourism, equestrian, construction and business growth. Away from the office, he’s a keen sportsman with an interest in rugby, golf, shooting and general fitness.
Roseanne Bennett

Roseanne qualified with a large independent firm of Chartered Accountants in East Anglia before returning to the North East in 2007. She became a Fellow of the ICAEW in 2017.
Roseanne has a diverse client base across a wide variety of industry sectors and supports clients with accounting, taxation and business advice needs along with ad hoc projects as they arise.
Being from a farming background and with a degree in Agri-Business Management, Roseanne has a strong interest in supporting agricultural and rural businesses. Roseanne appreciates the uniqueness of farming businesses and enjoys the challenge of working with farming families to tackle the issues that are thrown at them including succession. Roseanne is currently a member of the ICAEW Farming & Rural Committee which provides guidance on key technical and strategic issues affecting the sector.
Since 2016, Roseanne has been licenced to carry out Probate and Estate administration services for non-contentious probate in England and Wales.

Richard Ayre

As partner at GWA Richard follows in the footsteps of his father, uncle, grandfather and great grandfather. As a general practitioner with a wide range of experience, Richard enjoys working with owner managed businesses and start-ups, providing practical advice in a language his client’s understand. He is regularly involved in the preparation of projections for the restructure, funding and refinancing of businesses across the commercial and farming sectors. Richard also enjoys helping clients understand and realise the benefits of cost effective capital tax planning and succession planning.
Richard is a keen golfer and played rugby for the local club. His passion for sport is reflected in his support of the local community in his voluntary roles as Finance Director for both Berwick-upon-Tweed (Goswick) Golf Club and Berwick Rugby Football Club.

Carol Lindsay

Carol is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland and has a degree in Accountancy and Finance. Carol started her career in our Farm Accounts and Corporate Services departments gaining valuable experience. Carol’s focus has been on the firm’s taxation department, playing a pivotal role in developing the service including HMRC’s introduction of Making Tax Digital, whilst also managing her own portfolio of clients.
In her spare time Carol enjoys spending time with her family, horses and dogs. She also enjoys reading and baking, when she can fit them in!

Stuart Millar

Stuart was working for N C Campbell and Co in Haddington and moved to the Berwick office following the merger with GWA in 2016. Stuart qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2017 after studying at Glasgow University securing a BAcc Hons degree. Stuart has worked with businesses on both sides of the border utilising his experience in audit and general practice and is now developing his knowledge by studying to become an FCA accredited independent financial advisor.
Stuart enjoys walking and has already completed an number of Munros, with ambitions to complete them all, and is also a keen runner.
